After the difficult diagnosis of melanoma, we began an extensive process of inquiry to find the best treatment for our father. The "comfortable" option would have been to be treated at a hospital close to us (Ichilov, Sheba), but we understood that there was no true oncological melanoma surgeon there who manages and performs the entire process from A to Z. We did not want him to be operated on by residents, and the problem with that is clear. So eventually we received a recommendation to go to Dr. Meni Bracha from Hadassah Ein Kerem, and to our joy, the first meeting took place at his clinic in Ramat Gan. We are forever grateful to the Creator for that. We were amazed to discover a human doctor, extremely intelligent, who understands the secrets of melanoma in depth, with incredible efficiency and planning down to the smallest detail of every single detail. The entire surgery was performed by Dr. Bracha - the excision of the melanoma, the reconstruction (to our joy, Dr. Bracha chose the harder path and performed reconstruction with a tissue flap rather than a skin graft, which worked amazingly with an excellent cosmetic result and, most importantly, an easy and smooth recovery process), and sentinel lymph node sampling, which was taken both in the neck and in the armpit. There is a deep sense of peace in knowing that someone is responsible for everything, performing it all with his own wonderful hands, and is accountable for the high quality of the care we received. After the surgery, Dr. Bracha sat with us at length and explained guideline after guideline for continued care, because he did not want to rely on a generic discharge letter and it was important to him to make sure we understood all the details. Father was released home that very same day, a few hours after the surgery, and felt excellent! We could not believe that such a doctor existed, such a personality, who leads the field of oncological surgery in Israel with a firm hand at a relatively young age. After this amazing and sweet process, we happened to meet several other people who had been operated on by Dr. Bracha and were full of praise just like us. In a small country like ours, there is no justification for undergoing such a medical process close to home and settling for lesser medicine when we have the privilege of being treated by a truly world-class figure in the field of melanoma.
