Professor Shmuel Levit, MD, PhD. Clinical Endocrinologist, a world-renowned scientist with over forty years of clinical and research experience. He holds a Doctor of Science degree (PhD). Professor Levit is a second-generation endocrinologist in a family of endocrinologists, continuing the traditions and leading directions of Western medicine as well as the Soviet school of endocrinology. His main areas of activity and scientific focus are metabolism and autoimmune diseases of the endocrine system. His doctoral dissertation was dedicated to the correction of the immune system in thyroid disease – Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Today, Professor Levit is recognized worldwide as a scientist who has revolutionized the understanding and treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Professor Levit is the author of revolutionary concepts. He developed and scientifically validated the Gravicentric concept, which enables type 2 diabetes to enter remission. He also pioneered a revolutionary concept for bringing type 1 diabetes into remission. His methods are protected by patents in the United States, European countries, and Russia. According to his published data, with early intervention, up to 70% of adults with type 1 diabetes can enter prolonged remission and even discontinue insulin injections. In addition, at his institution, approximately 1,000 patients with type 2 diabetes have permanently discontinued their insulin injections. Professor Levit has also developed unique approaches to interpreting Continuous Glucose Monitoring - CGM. Through his methods, continuous monitoring has effectively become the "ECG" of diabetes and metabolism. Thanks to his research, physicians around the world have gained the ability to mathematically calculate pancreatic reserve and the level of insulin resistance — all without a single laboratory test. Professor Levit is a co-founder of two global startups aimed at leading type 1 diabetes into remission. All of the above places Professor Levit among the leaders of global endocrinology. During his work in Israel, he founded and led three diabetes institutes at Maccabi Healthcare Services (in Lod, Hadera, and Petah Tikva). Since 2010, he has founded and manages his own Institute of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. Professor Levit has unique clinical experience in treating a wide range of endocrine diseases, such as: thyroid diseases, parathyroid glands, the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, and reproductive glands. He successfully treats osteoporosis, fertility issues in both men and women, as well as diabetes, metabolic disorders, and neuro-endocrine disturbances. Professor Levit is the author of numerous scientific publications and regularly lectures at international medical conferences both abroad and in Israel. Professor Levit is convinced that many diseases officially considered incurable can and should be brought into remission through unique concepts and revolutionary treatment methods.
