''I came to Dr. Sapir after receiving a recommendation from a friend. My daughter is two years old, and I had an intuition that something was not typical, since this is my second daughter. I understood that in this field, they don't know how to diagnose girls well because they are deceptive. I made an appointment and came with her. The questionnaires were so precise that I hardly had to say anything. Dr. Sapir still asked me to explain why we had come and listened attentively to every word. During the diagnostic session with my daughter, I was simply in shock. He managed to communicate with her in an amazing way. She cooperated, which greatly helped the diagnosis. You cannot imagine how much communication with a doctor can do wonders, so it's best to come at times when your child is calm and not irritable or tired. At the end of the diagnosis, he determined that there was indeed a delay and explained very clearly what I needed to do next. I must mention that although I had concerns before arriving, I went home feeling very confident. He gave me strength, because I was really breaking down there. I warmly recommend every parent to go to him!!!

''Could it be that I did not visit the same doctor who is rated here with 5 stars and praised by so many anonymous patient-commenters? We came to Dr. Sapir with our son exactly when he turned two years old. In the days before the diagnosis, we discovered during an examination that our son's hearing in one ear was in poor condition and that he was suffering from fluid in his ears. The doctor claimed that the poor hearing had no significance for the diagnosis he was about to perform, and he proceeded with the task.... He performed a superficial, short diagnosis (about 10-15 minutes) in an unpleasant tone and without trying to give our son a pleasant and safe feeling before he began to diagnose him and hand out instructions. Our son, who was indeed experiencing a speech delay at that time, did not cooperate with the doctor's attempts, and the doctor hastily determined that it was highly likely a communication problem and even raised the possibility of "low intelligence." The words of Dr. Sapir, which of course caused us great shock and distress, were met on his part with an indifferent and cold attitude, without any attempt to explain the situation, the dynamic nature of child development at this age in general, or basic human treatment of a person in distress by a doctor (in my opinion, an especially critical component in Dr. Sapir's field of specialization). Fast forward two years - our son had just turned 4 years old. Several months after Sapir's diagnosis, he underwent ear tube surgery that drained the fluid from his ears. His hearing improved, his speech began to develop rapidly, and all his communication abilities jumped by leaps and bounds. Over the past two years, he has undergone two evaluations with a different developmental doctor (Dr. Ronen Hadi Cohen - warmly recommended), who performed a thorough and in-depth evaluation (an hour and a half of attentive and emotionally engaged observation and interaction with the child) and did not identify any sign of problems in the communicative aspect. Beyond the professional evaluations, as objective as I am able to be: today, we are talking about a sensitive child, cheerful, full of humor, capable of understanding social and emotional situations, and eager to take part in a group and interact with others. I want to believe that I am a level-headed person. I do not rush to dismiss reviews that I do not like and listen only to voices that are pleasant for me to hear. But Dr. Sapir's arrogant and irresponsible diagnosis is, in my view, a professional and moral failure of a doctor who has lost attentiveness and touch with the needs of the patients who pay him with their hard-earned money. How can a doctor, however professional and self-confident he may be, ignore a significant hearing problem and claim that it has no bearing on the diagnosis of communicative abilities? How is it possible that even if the doctor did identify a potential for a communication problem beyond the hearing issue, he did not qualify his words and present them within the broader context of the child's development, the resolution of the fluid issue, and the countless factors that better professionals presented to us later when we turned to them in distress? This was the worst experience with a healthcare provider or doctor that I have encountered in my life. Dr. Sapir has an impressive resume, but from my personal experience with him, I can say that he has lost touch with the basic role of a doctor, especially one who works with young children. Do not go near him!

''I am writing this from the depths of my heart, after a long and difficult period we went through as a result of a direction toward a completely mistaken diagnosis we received for my son. When we arrived at the clinic, the atmosphere was tense – time pressure, a feeling of being tested placed on a small child who had just turned two. This is also one of the main reasons he barely cooperated. Very quickly we felt that the doctor was in a hurry, that his requests to the child were spoken in a tone that was neither welcoming nor sensitive – not appropriate for children, and honestly, not for adults either. After barely seven minutes of a superficial look, he determined a serious communication problem and even suspected developmental delay, without addressing at all the hearing loss and the need for surgery that later turned out to be clear. And all this while he had not even had time to get to know the child! The things were said in a completely insensitive manner. When I sat there crying, he asked me coldly: "Are you done? Can I continue?" And when he met me again outside, still upset, he simply ignored me and went on with his business. The feeling was one of complete lack of empathy, of throwing out harsh and frightening terms into the air with no regard whatsoever for the child's actual reality. After about two years of unease and pain that has stayed with us since that traumatic appointment, we took the child through another series of evaluations — which completely ruled out any communication problem, and certainly not developmental delay. Today it is clear that he has attention difficulties and a mild speech delay caused by the hearing loss — and that is all. My goal is not to defame the doctor's name, but to warn other parents. The thought that another parent might go through what we went through is unbearable to me — and that is why I am writing.
