Botulinum toxin injections have become the common procedure performed in aesthetic clinics. Botox has been used for several decades as a safe substance for various indications in medicine. The goal of this treatment is to selectively weaken certain facial muscles responsible for creating expression lines, thereby smoothing wrinkles. A repeated injection to the same area after approximately three months further weakens the muscle, and the aesthetic result is expected to last longer with repeated injections. After several repeated treatments, the time between treatments can be extended, and injections can be administered approximately every six months. Botox injections can improve wrinkles in the upper half of the face, including the forehead, eyebrows, sides of the nose, and corners of the eyes. They can also treat wrinkles around the lips, corners of the mouth, and neck. It is a very safe procedure with minimal side effects.
